ソフィは花嫁衣装を持って、ドナのもとに訪れる。ソフィとドナは和解する。とうとうお嫁さんになるソフィを見て、ドナは懐古する。20年間の苦労も悲しみも何もかもが思い出だ。ドナはソフィの髪をときながら、母としての悲しみを味わう。そして、ドナはソフィに、花嫁衣装に体を通すように提案する。花嫁衣装を着たソフィは、美しかった。母と娘。永遠にこの関係は変わらずとも、ソフィは母の元をもうすぐ去る…

☆ABBA「スリッピング・スルー」トリビア☆
かつてビヨルンとアグネタがまだ夫婦だった頃、ビヨルンはABBAの楽曲制作であまりにも多忙を極め、子育てはアグネタにまかせっきりだった。そんなある日（1980年）娘リンダを見送ったビヨルンは、途中で何度も何度も振り返り手を振るリンダの姿を見て、胸が締め付けられる思いになった。今まで味わったことのない悲しさと寂しさ。そう、リンダは、赤ちゃんからあっという間に大きくなり、やがては自分（親）の元を離れていくのだ。それはビヨルンにとって、今まで親として何もしてこなかった後悔と、いずれはどこかの男に奪われ、自分のそばから離れて行ってしまう親ならではの悲しみが一瞬のうちに襲ってきたのだ。「あの子はどんどん成長していくのね、私の手からすり抜けて…」もう一人の本当の親のアグネタがいつも以上に情感を込めて歌い上げている。ミュージカル『マンマ・ミーア』では結婚式直前、ドナとソフィがようやく仲直りし、歌い上げているが、実は、この詩はビヨルンの感情を表現した作品である。だが詩の内容にあるように、誰でも涙するシーンであり、『マンマ・ミーア！』では、観客席から、すすり泣く声が一番聴こえるシーンだ。
